Maoists gun down surrendered extremist

Hyderabad, Oct 12: In the wee  hours on Monday in Yatnaram  village of Karimnagar district, the Maoists shot down one extremist who surrendered to the police.Fearing  that the surrendered is an informer to the police, the Maoists took this extreme  step.According to the police sources the victim Ramlal an ex 'dalam' (or armed squad) commander of CPI-ML Pratighatna group was dragged out from his house by eight  Maoists  and  was shot  dead. Ramlal  surrendered  to  the police two years ago.In the wake of the  reports that the Maoists are regrouping themselves this  incident  holds out some significance.Though the Maoists'Central Committee (CC)has directed its top leaders not to step up  their activities but according to reliable the Maoist leadership is shifting the cadre from Chhattisgarh and Orissa to Andhra Pradesh to foment violence.

The Maoists  main task is to revive the Maoist movement in North Telangana region,comprising Warangal, Khammam and Karimnagar districts, which used to be their bastion earlier according  to sources close to the Maoists.It is learnt that senior Maoist leader Malla Raji Reddy, who was released on bail last week, was reported to be  missing.Raji Reddy,  who hails from karimnagar district was a former member of central working committee of CPI (Maoist).He  was taken into custody in Kerala in 2007. He was  accused in several cases including the murder of former assembly speaker D. Sripada Rao.
