Telugu Desam Telangana Forum Convenor Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Friday alleged that the state government’s indifferent attitude towards Telangana has resulted in it being unable to get National Project Status for the Pranahitha-Chevella irrigation project. Talking to media persons at Assembly premises, Mr Janardhan Reddy said that state government had adopted an indifferent attitude pushing for the National Project status being accorded to the Pranahitha-Chevella irrigation project. Mr Janardhan Reddy further alleged that the Centre too was discriminating against the Telangana region by indicating that it will accord the National Project Status to Polavaram Project in the Coastal Andhra region. This is nothing but playing regional politics, Mr Janardhan Reddy said, adding that the indications that Polavaram would get National status is sheer discrimination against Telangana. The senior TDP leader further said that if the indications are correct, it would be another instance that the Union Government has cheated the people of Telangana. The only option to get justice would be to strengthen the separate Telangana statehood agitation, Mr Janardhan Reddy said. He also predicted that the Union government will not take a decision over the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh even after May and called on all pro-Telangana leaders and activists to unite. Mr Janardhan Reddy said that his forthcoming Telangana Sadhana Yatra’ from Nagarkurnool constituency in Mahabubnagar district on May 9 is an attempt to bring the Telangana protagonists on a single platform and would go ahead despite the many hurdles being put in its path. “The Sadhana Yatra will go ahead and everyone is welcome to attend it,” Mr Janardhan Reddy said.
