Hyderabad, Sept 23:
The World Bank on Wednesday released Rs 720 crore loan for taking up various development projects in the state. According to reliable sources, the World Bank has sanctioned the loan for implementing various welfare programmes of the state government launched during the then chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. The government will utilize the loan for improving village sanitation and supplying clean water in the rural areas.
The loan will be utilized for providing facilities in 2,600 villages in six districts. About 1 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water, and 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation, according to the World Bank.
