Hydeabad, Sept 22: Veteran and distinguished journalist G S Bhargava died of throat cancer in New Delhi on Tuesday. According to reports reaching here, the 84-year-old Bhargava breathed his last at his residence in New Friends Colony in South Delhi on Tuesday morning. He is survived by wife two sons and a daughter.He worked as the Resident Editor of Indian Express, Hyderabad in the 1980s. Before joining Express he started his career with the magazine ` Forum’ in the pre-Independent days. Later he moved to Hindustan Times and The Tribune. He also worked as the correspondent for Hindustan Times in Pakistan during the year 1961-62.Apart from being a journalist he was also the author for a good number of books. He specialized in defence matters and authored several books. The prominent writings are Pakistan in Crisis, Star Cross India -- Let Down by Leadership and Perestroika in India -- V P Singh Prime Ministership.
He worked as Principal Information Officer (PIO) to Government of India, G.S.Bhargava from June 1978 to April 1980, during the Janata Party regime
