Hyderabad, Sept 17 :
After swine flu it is the dengue fever which is sending shocking tremors among the people of twin cities in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Two deaths were reported on Thursday in Hyderabad due to dengue fever forcing the Department of Medical and Health to declare a state of alert to prevent its further spread.
The victims, a three-year-old girl from Suraram Colony and a six-year old girl from Chintalabasti. The blood samples of the victims were sent for testing where it was established that they were suffering from dengue.
According to the medical sources, the symptoms are high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, nausea and vomiting. The disease is caused by mosquitoes. The Government instructed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to go in for pyrethrum spraying in residential localities.
The health department was also instructed to educate the people living in slums about the causes and symptoms of the disease and the necessary precautions to be taken to prevent such diseases.
