Amidst chanting of Vedic hymns, temple priests offered a silk saree, sandalwood pieces, ghee, flowers and fruits to the ‘homam.’ ‘Aaseerwachanam’ (blessing) was given to the temple officials and staff.

Temple Executive Officer Vijay Kumar said this is the second biggest annual event at the temple after the Dasara festival.

In view of ‘Bhavani Deeksha Viramana' from December 27, the city police have imposed restrictions on movement of vehicles and suggested some traffic diversions during these days. Places for parking have also been earmarked for the devotees coming.

Vehicular traffic has been diverted at many places to avoid problems due to the expected heavy rush of pilgrims.

To mark the occasion, the temple authorities started the distribution of sumptuous meal at the temple. Under the scheme, the temple offers free food to 5,000 devotees per day.
