Tirupati, Sept 2 :
One pilgrim was killed on the spot and two others sustained serious injuries after a high tension (HT) wire abruptly snapped and fell on them at Tirumala near here on Wednesday.
The mishap occurred when five pilgrims from Tamil Nadu were on their way to the abode of Lord Venkateswara from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) pilgrim amenities complex on the hills.
The high tension wire passing above the road suddenly snapped and fell on them killing one pilgrim on the spot and seriously injuring two others in the wee hours.
The deceased has been identified as Srinivasan (17), police said. The seriously injured have been admitted to TTD hospital for treatment. Their condition is stated to be critical, according to hospital sources.
