Trying to get profit and popularity in every opportunity is the prime quality of any seasoned politician... Looking for the welfare of the people at every chance he gets is the trait of a Leader. Polavadam project is an example for that. While Chandrababu sees it as a chance to make profits out of it for himself and for his supporters, Jagan changed that scenario after coming into power and even the center agreeing his argument, accepted to release additional funds.
Polavaram project is a dream for many. The building of the project will benefit 27 lakhs of acres and thousands of families. 10 lakh acres from Godavari districts and 13 lakh acres from Krishna district benefit from the project once it is completed. The 182 KMs distance from Polavaram to Vishakapatnam, 4 lakh acres get water for irrigation through left canal. Through the right canal, 3.20 lakh acres spread across 172 me up to Vijayawada can be provided water for agriculture. Huge amount of water can be preserved at Polavaram dam without wasting it. 960 Mega Watts electricity can be generated through this project and all plans, estimations regarding this are already completed. It will provide drinking water for 540 villages which are facing drought. Through Babu Jagjeevan Sujala Sravanthi mission three districts can be provided water for 3 lakh acres.
Such an useful project has been referred in words only but didn't git materialised until YS Rajasekhar Reddy initiated it. After YSR's demise, the Government raised the project estimation and yet didn't completed it. The same followed by CBN government too. Arranging bus tours to the project and showing the villagers, a completed dam in blueprint and graphics is what the CBN government did and achieved during their term.
Chandrababu has damaged such an amazing project by bringing forward pattiseema lift irrigation project. Leaving Polavaram aside, CBN initiated the Pattiseema project to benefit his contractors. Chandrababu seems never cared to complete Polavaram. That's why even he was a part of ruling government in center, he never pushed Polavaram issue giving it a priority. Never allocated funds as per plan. He never tried to get funds too due to Vite fit Note case, he didn't pressurised anything for Polavaram. Had the money spent on Pattiseema diverted towards Polavaram, It would have been completed more than half. Pattiseema project takes 70 TMC of water to Krishna District while Polavaram gives , 80 TMC of water. Chandrababu government looted people money in the name of Pattiseema.
On the other hand Jagan wants to take Polavaram as top priority started by his father and decided to take it forward. According to 2013-14 the funds Polavaram gets is Rs 1249 Crs. But, Jagan convinced the center and made the center allocate Rs 12,911 Crs for Polavaram. Another Rs 10,000 Crs were requested by Jagan and got a favorable assurance from Prime Minister Modi. This has sped up the works at Polavaram and is shaping up rapidly.
