Shahrukh Khan made a grand reentry to the big screens after a four-year hiatus this year with Mega Blockbuster Pathaan. He is getting ready with another action spectacle Jawan. Everyone is familiar that Tamil director Atlee is making his Bollywood debut with Jawan. Glimpse and motion posters were released officially so far and generated very good buzz about the film. Other than that Atlee has kept Jawan under tight wraps and nothing came out of it officially. Now, reports suggest that Jawan is inspired by Amitabh Bachchan's film which was an official remake of Kamal Haasan's Tamil film.
The SRK starrer is reportedly inspired by the Hindi film Akhree Raasta and its original film, the Tamil film Oru Kaidhiyin Diary. While the former film featured Amitabh Bachchan and later starred Kamal Haasan in a double role of a father and son. Similarly, Jawan features Shah Rukh Khan in a double role of a father and son. Much like those films, Jawan is also a revenge story with the same conflict points.
But Jawan is not a total remake but an inspiration. Atlee has taken the core plot and comes out with a new story for today’s audience. The emotions remain the same, but the treatment is very modern according to reports. Atlee is known for reviving old Tamil films and making them match the sensibilities of a modern audience. All his previous Tamil films, Raja Rani, Theri, and Mersal have similarities with old Tamil films, Mouna Ragam, Chatriyan, and Aboorva Sagotharargal. For his Hindi debut too he followed the same.
Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, and Sunil Grover among others besides Shah Rukh Khan. It is also rumoured that Thalapathy Vijay might also be making a cameo in the film. Sanjay Dutt is also likely to join SRK for a special action-packed sequence. Jawan is slated to release in June this year.
