Are the filmmakers highlighting the real regional culture? Did the filmmakers highlight the real culture? This is the most discussed topic among movie lovers. Generally every region, state, and country takes pride in their country. Accordingly. in two Telugu states, the Godavari region people are known for their delicious foods, loving people, and beautiful nature. Rayalaseema is renowned for its valor and vigor and Telangana people are known for their innocence and also the fighting spirit when oppressed.
But in most of the films, filmmakers showed Rayalaseema people as violent mongers, and bloodthirsty and they insulted the Telangana language and slang. Many thought that this would improve after the state is divided into Andhra and Telangana. When Sekhar Kammula came with Fidaa, everyone showered praises as the film highlighted the real Telangana culture and accent. The same is the case with his film Love Story. One can say the same with regard to Sukumar's Ranagsthalam.
Later, people are raving about Balagam and Dasara and heaped praises on the films for propagating the rich Telangana culture. Earlier they showered praises on Pushpa for highlighting the Rayalaseema culture. But right-thinking people say that Pushpa did not highlight the Rayalaseema culture but instead glorified the criminals and red sandalwood smuggling.
Coming to Balagam and Dasara, the films might have turned into hits but in both the films, the makers have shown Telangana people as drunkards. In Dasara, even small children are shown as drunkards. Are small children drinking and smoking, this is the rich Telangana culture. Just because these two films turned out to be hit, filmmakers shouldn't be blindfolded that showing Telangana people as drunkards will give them hits. Not only makers but also movie lovers should introspect and take pride in enthralling and enjoying, encouraging films that really promote the culture and richness in the right way rather than show boozing and smoking as heroism.
