Aashiqui has a special place in love stories not only in Bollywood but also in other industries. The first Aashiqui which was released in 90's became a huge musical hit and many Telugu houses have the audio cassettes of Aashiqui back then. The original Aashiqui, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, released in 1990 and had Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal playing the lead roles. Aashiqui, made on a budget of Rs 80 lakhs reportedly earned Rs 5 crore.
The second Aashiqui starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor was also a smash hit and the songs were still reverberating in many playlists. The second film in the franchise released 23 years later, in 2013. Both films were massive hits. and Aashiqui 2 did a business of Rs 78.42 cr.
Now, the third installment of Aashiqui is being announced last year. Aashiqui 3 will be directed by love and soulful movies specialist Anurag Basu while latest sensation Karthik Aryan will play the lead role. Now news is that Sara Ali Khan is showing interest to play female lead in this much awaited movie.
Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan were rumoured to be dating during the filming of their film Love Aaj Kal in 2020. However, the couple parted ways right before the film’s release. Sarah Ali Khan when asked she will definitely do Aashiqui 3 if makers offer the role. Meanwhile, Sara Ali Khan’s latest film Gaslight has started streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar. Co-starring Vikrant Massey and Chitrangada Singh. Next up, she has Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino. The film also stars Aditya Roy Kapur.
