Akshay Kumar is the only hero who has been doing multiple films at a time working round the clock. Post pandemic except Suryavanshi, he has seen a series of flops. The theatrical failure of ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Ram Setu’ and ‘Selfiee’ are affecting his upcoming releases. His next is a sequel to his 2012 released Superhit film OMG which is also remade in Telugu as Gopala Gopala with Venkatesh and Pawan Kalyan.
Now the sequel to the superhit, OMG 2 is getting ready to release and due to continuous failures of Akshay, the makers are rethinking their strategy and are opting for a direct to OTT release. Directed by Amit Rai, this film is a spiritual sequel to ‘OMG – Oh My God!’. Reports are rife that the makers have decided to skip a theatrical release of ‘OMG 2’ and the film will directly arrive on an OTT platform, Joot and Jio.
However, there is no official confirmation about the same. ‘OMG 2’ also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Arun Govil and Yami Gautam in key roles. In recent times multiple Akshay Kumar's films got released directly to OTT like Laxmii, Atrangi Re, Cutt Putlli.
Apart from ‘OMG 2’, Akshay also has 'Soorarai Pottru' remake, 'Capsule Gill', 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' and 'Hera Pheri 3' in the pipeline. The actor has also signed up for Dinesh Vijan’s next action drama titled ‘Sky Force’. Akshay Kumar is also going to mark his debut in Marathi films with Mahesh Manjrekar’s ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’.
