Bollywood star hero Akshay Kumar is playing the role of Warrior King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his debut in Marathi films. The Marathi film titled Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat', is made into a pan-India multilingual film and it is directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. The film was launched in a grand event where Salman Khan and several celebrities attended.
The movie is based on the story of seven valiant warriors whose aim is bring Shivaji's dream, Swarajya into a reality. Akshay Kumar said that it is his dream role and that playing Shivaji Maharaj is a huge responsibility. Director Mahesh Manjrekar said he has been working on the script for the last 7 years and it is by far the biggest and grandest Marathi film ever made. The film is Produced by Vaseem Qureshi.
