Maniratnam's Ponniyin Selvan is set for a spectacular release on September 30,2022. The film has a star studded cast and the film's trailer and teaser got good response from all quarters. In the meantime, it is coming out that Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth missed Ponniyin Selvan.
Kamal Haasan revealed that Maniratnam planned to take Ponniyin Selvan way back in 1989 with Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. He said legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan said if Rajinikanth plays the role of Vanthiyadevan, it would be good. However Kamal told him that he would like to do the role. But Sivaji asked him to do the role of ArulMozhiVarman. Rajinikanth revealed that he wished to be the part of the project and planned to star in the role of Periyapazhu Vettaiyar. But Maniratnam rejected Rajini saying that people will not accept him in that role.
Incidentally Karthi is starring in the role of Vanthiaydevan and Jayam Ravi is starring in the role of ArunMozhiVarman.
