2022 Tollywood first quarter review

Tollywood 2022 first quarter review

Time waits for none and within a blink of the eyelid three months passed away in 2022. Tollywood has been powering the Indian film industry ever since the outbreak of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic instilling confidence in the other industries. Let us see how Tollywood fared in the first quarter.

January:

The year started with the release of films like Ram Gopal Varma's Asha's Encounter, Varun Sandesh's Induvadana, Aadi Sai Kumar's Atithi Devo Bhava, and Rana's 1945. But all the films left without a trace failing to give impetus ahead of the Sankranti season. The outbreak of the Omicron virus witnessed the postponement of biggies like RRR, Radhe Shyam, Bheemla Nayak, etc. This paved the way for the solo release of Nagarjuna's Bangarraju. Even small films, Mega Star Chiranjeevi's son-in-law Kalyan Dhev's Super Machi, Dil Raju's nephew Ashish Reddy's Rowdy Boys and American Dreams hit the screens. Super Star Krishna's grandson Ashok Galla made his debut with Hero. Except for Bangarraju, none of the films made an impression. The same is the case with Keerthy Suresh's Goodluck Sakhi and Uniki. ujujhuhjujyhu

Raviteja's Khiladi was released amidst huge expectations across the country and the film much to the disappointment of all turned out to be the biggest disaster. Surprisingly Siddhu Jonnalagadda'sDJ Tillu which was released the next day turned out to be a super hit. Later Collection King Mohan Babu's Son of India left with no collections while Vikram Sahidev's Virgin Story failed to wow viewers. Thala Ajith's Valimai was released amidst huge expectations but the film failed to set the screens on fire. Power Star Pawan Kalyan, Rana's Bheemla Nayak showed its power at the box office. The film turned out to be the year's biggest hit at the box office.

March:

March started off with Dulqer Salmaan's Hey Sinamika, Kiran Abbavaram's Sebastian PC524, and Sharwanand's Aadavallu Meeku Joharlu. All the films tanked at the box office. Young Rebel Star Prabhas' Radhe Shyam which was released amidst huge expectations turned out to be the biggest disaster much to the shock of all. Aadi Pinisetty's Clap was released in OTT and turned out to be below average and Raj Tharun's Stand Up Rahul failed to stand up at the box office. March ended with Rajamouli's magnum opus RRR starring Ram Charan and NTR finally released amidst huge expectations. The film is creating sensations at the box office across the world.

Overall the first quarter witnessed, Pawan Kalyan powering Tollywood with Bheemla Nayak and then Rajamouli teaming with Ram Charan and NTR and propelling Tollywood across the world with RRR.
