Mega Star Chiranjeevi's nephew Vaishnav Tej had a dream debut along with Kriti Shetty with the stunning romantic entertainer Uppena directed by Buchchi Babu Sana. With their riveting performances, Vaishnav Tej and Kriti Shetty became the overnight stars.
Now it is coming out that Vaishnav Tej and Kriti Shetty are not the first choices for doing the lead roles. Buchi Babu penned Uppena's story keeping Rowdy Star Vijay Devarakonda in mind. However, with Vijay Devarakonda busy with his other projects, he couldn't do the project. Thus Vaishnav Tej entered his place.
Similarly, the makers planned to cast a Telugu girl Manisha as the heroine. However, Buchi Babu after seeing Kriti Shetty's photos on social media felt that Kriti would suit the role. He met his mentor Sukumar and told him the same and Sukumar asked him to listen to his gut feeling. Thus Buchi Babu at once selected Kruti for the role.
