In what could be said a huge shocker to the ruling YSRCP government, the AP High Court, on Friday, cancelled the Parishad elections held on April 8.Quoting the Supreme Court's orders to ensure a gap of four weeks between the election notification and the date of elections, the HC's single judge has written off the elections held on April 8.
Hitherto, the ruling YCP was quite adamant to conduct the elections on April 8 either by hook or by crook. As such, the ruling party approached the HC's division bench seeking the HC single judge's orders of stay on elections to cancel and to conduct the elections as per scheduled date. As the division bench nodded to conduct the elections, the elections were held on April 8 but the counting procedure was halted with the court cases.
And now, what are the options left for the ruling party to make sure the judgement of HC single bench is cancelled? The YCP may approach the division bench as usual, but the division bench is unlikely to take up the case, the single judge clearly mentioned the supreme court's judgement. In such a case, the YCP may approach the supreme court for justice.
