Alludu Adhurs trolled again after OTT release

Among the four Telugu films that were lined up for Sankranti, it was Alludu Adhurs that underperformed the most at the box office. Directed by Kandireega fame-maker Santhosh Srinivas, the family entertainer featuring Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas, Anu Emmanuel, Nabha Natesh and Sonu Sood reminded many of the Dhee, Ready formula where the hero makes a buffoon out of the villain. Neither the songs, performances or the routine comedy enthused audiences to hit theatres.

Almost a month after its theatrical release, the film released on Sun NXT a few days ago. And here too, the audience response hasn’t exactly differed. Several social media users have condemned that the film has no sense of story, purpose or meaning. The words have been worse than what the theatrical audiences have had to say some time ago. It’s a shame because, at a time when we see Telugu cinema progressing for the better and experimenting with unchartered territories, Alludu Adhurs has taken the industry a decade behind again.

But for Rakshasudu, no film of Bellamkonda Sreenivas has got any critical acclaim and it would have been ideal had the young actor focused on his Telugu film career before heading to Bollywood. Even in Bollywood, the actor has chosen Chatrapathi remake for his debut, a film that’s a mishmash of several 70s Hindi films and is too outdated for 2021. One would hope that wouldn’t be a cause of embarrassment for him later.
