Devi Sri Prasad is a name to reckon with in the Tollywood industry for his musical innings. Having produced many soothing and earworm songs, DSP soon grabbed the top spot for the filmmakers to approach. He even commanded highest paycheque but things plummeted in the recent past and was written off by his detractors.
DSP was not only written-off but was dubbed as out of form and repetitive for his jaded music. May ruled that it was time for him to pack his bags. DSP thought to bounce back with Sarileru Neekevvaru last Sankaranthi, however it was overshadowed by Thaman’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. While things have been slow but DSP has proved his critics wrong and he is back with a bang! Buchi Babu Sana’s Uppena starring debutants Vaishnav Tej Panja and Krithi Shetty is roaring at the box-office.
Uppena is being hailed not just for its plot, arresting screen presence and screenplay but the mellifluous music coupled with BGM has been a catalyst in Uppena success. Songs like Nee Kannu Neeli Samudram and Jala Jala Jalapaatham Nuvvu have been a hit.
DSP’s Connection With Mega Heroes
Devi Sri Prasad has some unseen bond with the Mega compound. While he has scored and given chartbusters for other heroes too, things are different when it comes to Mega heroes. It is said that DSP puts his heart and soul working for Mega Compound and invariably it is true.
From Jalsa to Julayi to Rangasthalam to Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh to Chiranjeevi’s comeback film Khaidi No. 150, S/0 Satyamurthy to Chitralahari to name a few with the latest Uppena the music is rage. In fact, some of the songs are even popular till date. However, the same magic is said to be lacking when it comes to other heroes. The reason could be better explained by Devi himself.
Currently, DSP is working on Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa. Both the filmmaker Sukumar and Bunny are his favourtites. After Uppena’s magical musical success, everyone is curious to know how he would score for Pushpa.
