This has not been a good phase for the Kapoor household. Raj Kapoor’s youngest son, Rajiv Kapoor, has breathed his least earlier today. He was 58 years old. The actor, producer, director had a massive cardiac arrest in the morning after which his brother Randhir Kapoor had taken him to a private hospital in Mumbai. The medicos had declared him dead on arrival.
Rajiv Kapoor had taken up several roles on film sets in his short-lived career in cinema. While he began his career as an assistant director to his father on the sets of Prem Rog, Rajiv Kapoor is best known for his appearance in Ram Teri Ganga Maili (also directed by his father). He went onto act in several films including Hum To Chale Pardes, Zalzala, Naag Naagin, Angaarey to name a few. Rajiv directed a film, Prem Granth, as well, besides working on the production of Aa Ab Laut Chalen and Henna.
“I have lost my youngest brother, Rajiv. He is no more. The doctors tried their best but could not save him. I am at the hospital, waiting for his body," Randhir Kapoor had told TOI. Neetu Kapoor had confirmed the news on her Instagram profile. Raj Kapoor’s other children, Ritu Nanda and Rishi Kapoor had passed away in 2020, while the legend’s spouse Krishna Kapoor died in 2018.
