Prashanth Varma’s latest flick Zombie Reddy is off to poor start, despite theatres are operating with 100 percent seating capacity. The film starring Teja Sajja has collected close to 1.6 Cr gross in Telugu states and bookings for today and tomorrow are said to be not encouraging. A per trade analysts, the film is expected to end as another dud for Prashanth Varma whose last film Kalki was a flop.
Producer Raj Sekhar Varma spent huge budget on Zombie Reddy. Although Prashanth Varma asked decent budget for the film, it has increased to almost double to the estimated buget. The producer didn’t hesitate as he hoped Prashanth Varma will deliver a blockbuster. However, both the Varmas are said to be under tremendous pressure with the day one figures and bookings for Saturday and Sunday.
Prashanth Varma during pre-release event said that he went into depression with failure of Kalki. He was pretty sure that he would make strong comeback with Zombie Reddy. However, with the film got lukewarm response from critics and audience alike, the business may close very soon.
Prashanth Varma must realize that he is not that good at making commercial films. His Awe made on moderate budget turned out to be a hit. But, his Kalki and now Zombie Reddy stand as cost failures.
Hope, Prashanth Varma realizes his mistake and comes up with a film that will awestruck us like Awe did!
