Summer is the biggest season for South films. 2020 too witnessed two big ticket Tollywood films- Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramloo hitting the screens and becoming smashing hits. Of course, the Allu Arjun starrer had upper hand over the Mahesh starrer. Nonetheless, the summer fight in 2021 is going to be biggest in the history of Telugu cinema.
If not corona, many noted films would have graced the theatres in summer and during Dussehra in 2020. While some of the film were released on OTT platforms, few small to medium range films will be releasing for Sankranthi. But, many star hero films will grace the theatres in summer.
They include Chiranjeevi’s Acharya, Pawan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab, Prabhas’s Radhe Shyam, Balakrishna’s untitled flick with Boyapati Srinu, Varun Tej’s ongoing sports drama, Vijay Deverakonda’s Fighter, Adivi Sesh’s Major, Nani’s Ante Sundaraniki, Sharwanand’s Maha Samudram etc.
Some of these films would have released for Sankranthi. Since the permission is given for only 50 percent seating occupancy, all the major release got pushed to summer. There will be many small to medium range films releasing in summer, other than the abovementioned films.
SS Rajamouli and team is trying hard to release the film in summer. But, it may get postponed to second half of 2021.
Fortunately, if RRR joins summer race, then there will be a festival of films for movie buffs in summer 2021.
