SP Balasubrahmanyam’s untimely death came across as a huge shock to fans and celebrities across the country. Singer KJ Yesudas conveyed his heartfelt condolences on the demise of SPB. The legendary singer passed away on Friday at MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai due to lung failure.
KJ Yesudas, in a statement, said that he is devastated to hear about the loss of his friend, brother and long-time collaborator from the music industry. He called him a brother from another mother and expressed his regret for not visiting him one last time.
Yesudas said, "Among my colleagues, Balu is like my own brother. I had no idea that Balu loved me so much. SPB and I would have been brothers in previous life. Though Balu didn't study music in a traditional way, his musical knowledge was vast. He sings and composes as well.
In the film, Shankarabharanam, he would have sung extremely well with the one who learned music properly. Balu never hurts anyone. In fact, he takes care of everyone with love and affection. There were times when he had even cooked for us. He made some delicious meals while we were staying in Paris for a concert.
We have suffered a great loss due to Covid-19. I am not allowed to come here from the US. I couldn't see him one last time. I will always remember him."
Yesudas shared a strong bond with SP Balasubrahmanyam. Their song Singarala Pairullona from Rajinikanth's Thalapathy is still celebrated by music lovers.
