The corona pandemic resulted in the closure of movie theatres and postponement of the release of films. Many thought that the epidemic will be eradicated and normalcy will be restored. But with more than five months, things are becoming more dangerous.
Film shootings have come to a standstill. Producers are suffering due to the lack of release conditions for films that have completed shooting. If it continues like this for a few more days, it is possible to get stuck in a debt trap. However, OTT platforms seemed to be another option for such producers. Already many directors and producers have released their films on OTT.
In Bollywood, movies of stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt are being released on OTT. Only small medium range movies are being released in the South industry, particularly in Tollywood. Though it is expected that star heroes movies will be released if the theaters re-open, the Union Government has not taken any decision regarding the theaters.
With this, the Kollywood star heroes understood the situation of their producers and came forward to release their films on OTT. Some makers want star heroes to come forward in this regard if producers are to survive in Tollywood as well. Under these circumstances, 'V' starring Nani and Sudheer Babu is ready for OTT release. There are already a lot of movies that need to be released this year.
But none of the Tollywood stars are even thinking about the producers and coming forward to release their films digitally. Now all those heroes will have to agree to the OTT release in order for the producers to recover from the losses. It remains to be seen if the rest of the heroes will come forward after the release of 'V' movie.
