During the lockdown following coronavirus outbreak, OTT platforms decided to take advantage of the unsure future regarding the opening of theatres.
Many OTT players tried to acquire the rights of the upcoming entertainers whose releases got stalled due to the lockdown. They started gunning for the rights of Nani-Sudheer Babu's thriller V as they felt that acquiring the crazy film's rights would make small filmmakers make a beeline for them.
Though they offered crazy deals amounting to whopping Rs 30crs, producer Dil Raju did not want to ruin the prospect of the theatre business. However, with many marketing people coming forward with crazy offers on behalf of OTT platforms, Dil Raju came up with a shocking proposal.
He said he would give the first half rights and people who watch the first half on OTT will wait eagerly to watch the film in theatres and this would be beneficial for both OTTs and Theatres owners. It has to be seen how OTT platforms will react to such proposals.
