Tollywood's stature rose tremendously during the past decade or so and this is inspiring stars to turn their films into pan India films. There is no denying the fact that after the sensation of Baahubali, almost everyone is looking towards Tollywood.
Though many Tollywood films are doing well in Bollywood and some are getting remade, for some reason they are not doing well in Kollywood. Tamil tambis rejected hit films like Magadheera, Rangasthalam, and Srimanthudu.
Tollywood movie lovers always encouraged good films from Rajinikanth, Vijay, Ajith, Kamal Haasan, Surya, Vishal, Vikram, and Karthi. This is not the case with Tamil Tambis as they rejected even good films. The same, if remade by either of the Kollywood stars, would have become a hit. It is a mystery why Tamil tambis are not accepting even good films though they are known for their creative films.
Some say Tamil tambis are of the opinion that Tollywood makers depend on them for their films and so they are not paying attention to them. Almost all Telugu films have Tamil stars in the roles of antagonists or character actors. This is not a new phenomenon. Even after Tollywood got separated and shifted its base from Tamil Nadu to Andhra Pradesh, this has been going on.
Analysts opine Tamil Tambis are envious that Tollywood is having more international market and they do not want to contribute to the rise of Tollywood in their state.
