Will there be an extension of lockdown or not? There is an intense ambiguity prevailed everywhere on the last date of lockdown period in India. In the wake of the rapid spread of coronavirus epidemic in upstairs and downstairs, a 21-day lockdown across India was proclaimed by the PM Mr Modi on 24th of March to ensure strict rules would be implemented for a proper containment and isolation measures to hinder the spreading of the grisly disease.
Thereupon, stringent actions have been taken by the police to make sure the people abide by the rules prescribed them during the lockdown period.
Interim, some hearsay were spread in social media and Whatsapp groups on the extension of lockdown. Amid all these tittle-tattle, the PM convened a crucial conference with the CMs of all states in Delhi on Friday.
If some media reports are to be believed, there won't be an extension of lockdown period anymore. The PM, reportedly, told the CMs that the union government had no plans for extension. However, he directed them to implement strict measures for rest of the days to make sure people would maintain social distance.
On the other hand, Airways and Indian Railways opened advance bookings for April 15 onwards. To sum up, there are clear indications there would be no extension of lockdown. Yet again, an official statement is awaited from horse' mouth.
