Sawrgeeya Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao becomes big headache for most of the biopics on south film legends. It all started when Nag Ashwin announced to make Savitri biopic titled Mahanati. The makers tried hard to convince young tiger NTR for the role of his grandfather, but he said firm no as he feared criticism.
Then, they deleted few scenes of NTR and shot the scenes using CG technology. Though the film turned out to be a blockbuster, NTR’s presence would have made it much bigger hit. Naga Chaitanya played ANR in the film that starred Keerthy Suresh playing the titular role.
Natasimha Nandamuri Balakrishna came up with biopic on his dad which was made in two parts as NTR Kathanayakudu and NTR Mahanayakudu. Many expected Balakrishna to rope in Jr NTR for young NTR role. But, Balakrishna was against the idea. While a young actor was roped in for NTR’s teenage role, Balakrishna himself did young NTR role for which he was slammed. Critics opined NTR would have been best pick for the role. Both the parts ended as disasters.
Ram Gopal Varma made his version of biopic on NTR. A drama artist was zeroed in for the role. However, the film stood as utter flop.
Now, NTR turns big headache for makers of Thalaivi, a biopic on Tamil Nadu former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Kangana Ranaut is doing the lead role as Jayalalithaa, while Arvind Swami plays the role of MGR, Prakash Raj will be seen as Karunanidhi.
Thalaivi makers are said to have approached Balakrishna for the role of NTR. Vishnu Induri who co-produced NTR biopic and is making Thalaivi tried his best to convince Balakrishna. But, his efforts turned futile with Balakrishna saying no.
They are well aware that NTR will not accept to be part of this project, given he refused the proposal of his close friend Swapna Dutt. They are in dilemma on whom to approach for the role. Will they shoot the scenes using CG like Nag Ashwin did for Mahanati?
