Top director K Raghavendra Rao gave memorable hits to Mega Star Chiranjeevi in form of Adavi Donga, Kondaveeti Raja, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Gharana Mogudu, etc. They combined together to shake the box office with over 14 blockbusters.
Chiranjeevi's first film under Raghavendra Rao's direction was Mosagadu. Though Sobhan Babu was the hero, there is a reason for casting Chiranjeevi in the film. Sridevi did a dual role in the film and Chiranjeevi was paired opposite Sridevi who played a negative role in one of the characters.
Chiranjeevi already earned the reputation as a dashing dancer and furious fighter in his films. Raghavendra Rao roped in Chiranjeevi with the aim of having a song on him along with Sridevi and also a fight with Sobhan Babu. Later Raghavendra Rao cast Chiranjeevi in NTR's Tiruguleni Manishi.
Five years after this film, Chiranjeevi and Raghavendra Rao came up with Adavi Donga which gave a mass hero image to Mega Star. From then on Raghavendra Rao started calling Chiranjeevi as Babai. Raghavendra Rao revealed that he started calling Chiranjeevi as Babai as he can get optimum performance by coming near to him.
