AP State's Assembly Passes 3 Capitals Bill on Monday

The AP state assembly on Monday passed the much talked about 3 capitals bill aiming at decentralisation of the governance and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill 2020 by voice vote.

Hitherto, the AP's cabinet unanimously took a resolution to implement the recommendations suggested by GN Rao and Boston Committee Reports on capital cities development. Accordingly, Vizag will be developed as an executive capital, Amravati the legislative capital and Kurnool would be the judicial capital. 

As is known, farmers at Amaravati have been agitating for the past one month seeking the capital wouldn't get shifted to another place. The AP government, notwithstanding, announced sops for them. The farmers who gave their lands for capital development will be paid annuity term for 15 years against 10 years announced by the TDP before. Besides, an ex-gratia for farmers would be doubled from Rs.2500 to Rs.5000.

Defending the government's policy on the three capitals, the CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy showed various video clips how ridiculously Amaravati was chosen for capital city development by the previous government. Particularly, a narrow bridge Karakatta, wherein no two autos of opposite directions can travel at once, was shown the one and only path to go to so called secretariat, high court and assembly of Amaravati. Also, the CM elucidated how insiders trading was done during the previoius government's regime prior to the announcement of Amaravati the capital.

Provided that the CM Jagan gave power point presentation at times, how his decision would lead to the welfare of the backward areas of AP.
