Natasimha Nandamuri Balakrishna tasted many blockbusters and at the same time witnessed many flops in his career. No top star would do a film if he does not like a story and knows that it would become a disaster. However, Balakrishna did a disaster film only out of respect for his dad, legendary actor NTR.
It is known that in the 80s and 90s, A Kodandarami Reddy won the recognition as the most successful director. The veteran director, meanwhile, revealed the secret behind Balakrishna's disaster 'Tiragabadda Telugu Bidda'. He said he did the film on the request of NTR who was then the CM of Andhra Pradesh.
Kodandarami Reddy said when NTR was the Chief Minister, he called him to narrate the story and at that time even Paruchuri Brothers were present. He said he told NTR that he did not like the story for which NTR remarked, 'Sare. Nachchakunte Cheyoddu'. Paruchuri Brothers, however, scolded Kodandarami Reddy for rejecting the story outright.’
Kodandarami Reddy said, “After few days, I again got a call from NTR. He told me 'I liked the story. Let us do the film'. We completed the film as NTR liked the story. Balakrishna who heard the story too was not really contended with it. However, he too did the film out of respect for his dad NTR. During the shooting, when I told Balakrishna to reshoot a particular scene, he remarked 'flop ayye movie ki retake enduku lendi."
