President Rule in Maharashtra

President Rule Imposed in Maharashtra

In a dramatic turn of events, the President of India Ram Nath Kovind imposed president rule in Maharashtra. Now that no political party has got required majority to form the government in the recent general elections, BJP and Shiv Sena carried out negotiations but their attempts to form an alliance have been failed.

Thenceforth, Shiv Sena has made desperate attempts to tie up NCP. However, even these attempts too turned a futile exercise as no clarity and conclusion were led by both the parties. In the wake of an ambiguity prevailed in the political situation, PM Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with the ministers of his cabinet and took resolution to impose president rule in the state.

Accordingly, the governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, who earlier had given the NCP the time till 8.30 pm on Tuesday to express its willingness to form government, has submitted a report to President Ram Nath Kovind recommending President's rule in the state.
