Director Harish Shankar whose last film DJ- Duvvada Jagannadham was an average grosser is coming up with his next film- Valmiki, a remake of acclaimed Tamil gangster drama Jigarthanda, releasing in three days on September 20th.
Harish Shankar initially planned to make a romantic entertainer Dagudumuthalu with Varun Tej who asked him to come up with a different subject as he was looking to break his lover boy image and is keen to do a mass entertainer. Then, Harish Shankar proposed to remake his favorite Tamil film Jigarthanda in Telugu. Varun Too liked the idea, so he gave go ahead nod.
Varun Tej worked hard for two months and has gone for a complete makeover to get Gaddalakonda Ganesh’s look right. Harish at several occasions said that he stuck to the original and didn’t make significant changes in the content.
Those who watched Jigarthanda are aware of climax twist. But, Valmiki will have not just one two mind-blowing twists. The director keeps the details of Pooja Hegde’s role under wraps for now. She comes in second half and will be seen as Varun Tej’s love interest. But, there’s suspense around her character. Pooja Hegde whose role is brief will be seen as village belle.
Velluvachi Godaramma from Devatha (1982) has been remixed and the song shot on Varun and Pooja comes at an appropriate situation and goes in line with the narrative.
