The former finance minister and Congress party's leader P Chidambaram was arrested by CBI sleuthson Wednesday night and was taken to CBI headquarters. Prior to his arrest, Chidambaram made dramatic appearance at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters. Later, he was taken to CBI headquarters.
Chidambaram faced allegations with INX Media scam case. He filed an anticipatory bail petition at the Delhi High Court on Tuesday, but was turned down by the court. With his dismay, his bail petition was also written off by the apex court.
Worried by his father's detainment, Chidambaram's son Karthi Chidambaram said, " 'it is a totally politically motivated witchhunt.' Chidambaram is likely to be taken to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital for medical treatment.
