Many dreamed 2019 would bring a lot of hits in Tollywood boosted by the successes in 2018. But a month before the completion of first half of 2019, Tollywood is under shock as flop clouds are hovering over it. Till now except for one or two films, none of the films brought profits for buyers.
In January and February, only F2 created a sensation at the box office, but at the same time Ram Charan's Vinaya Vidheya Rama and Balakrishna's NTR biopic left buyers in losses. Same is the case with Akkineni Akhil's Mr Majnu and RGV' Lakshmi's NTR. Yatra and Kalyan Ram's 118 fared better compared to many other flicks.
Though April turned a little better, only Majili performed according to the expectations. Though Jersey got positive reviews it didn’t reach the profit zone. Chitralahari turned better as the film was sold for less than Sai Tej's market.
Though Mahesh's Maharshi entered into 100 crs club, it left buyers in losses in ceded and overseas. Same is the case with the latest releases Seven and Hippi.
This is an eye-opener for the makers and if they don’t realize it, their existence will be in doubt.
