Natasimha Balakrishna created a sensation with his powerful performance in Samarasimha Reddy. The success of Samarasimha Reddy set a trend of powerful faction based action entertainers in Tollywood.
Paruchuri Gopala Krishna in his Paruchuri Palukulu shared the secrets of the faction based entertainers. He said, “Many stars came with faction based films. My brother always thinks of entering into the new genre. In 1990s we readied two stories and they are Prema Khaidi and Kadapa Reddamma. In Prema Khaidi, there is factionist father but it doesn't have a faction backdrop. It is a love story. When we showed it to Chalapati, he set aside Prema Khaidi and selected Kadapa Reddamma. In this Mohan Babu and Sarada played the roles of different castes. The film didn’t perform well at the box office."
Paruchuri continued saying, “However, after a long time I met politician Paritala Ravi. I remarked, 'I had lot of hopes on Kadapa Reddma but it didn’t do well. Do you know why it didn’t work out?' He suggested, 'If you write a story in future, include all the characters in the same caste- be it girl and boy from Reddys or Kammas'.
With his suggestion, I showed hero, heroine in Samarasimha Reddy from the same caste. In Narasimha Naidu, I showed both hero, heroine from Naidu caste. This was a good suggestion from Paritala Ravi. In our stories we never told that a thief, rowdy or factionists are great people. I along with my brother has taken this conscious decision. We only showed the reason behind hero's turning into a factionist.
During Samarasimha Reddy we had lot of discussions. It doesn't take even a second for the hero to kill the villain. However he pardons him. But so as not to disappoint the movie lovers, we ended the film with the villain himself ending his life."
