When Nizam Planned A Hindu Film

Nizam Sarkar planned Bhakta Ramadas film

People even now remember the atrocities committed by Nizams and their private army Razakars. Though current political parties for vote bank politics try singing praises of Nizam role, great poets like Dasarathi compared Nizam to a devil.

It is known that Super Star Krishna refrained from doing a film on Shivaji so as not to hurt the feelings of muslims and now Mahesh Babu refused to do a film against Razakars and Nizams for the fear of antagonizing muslims.

For all said and done, it is coming out that Nizams once thought of coming up with a film on Ramadasu for Hindu Muslim unity. Popular journalist Eswara dutt suggested Nizam king to produce a film on Ramadasu with the then star actor Nagaiah.

Nawab agreed and handed over the responsibility of convincing Nagaiah to Esara Dutt himself. He went to Madras and brought Nagaiah and hosted him with full state security at Greenlands as a state guest. They visited Golkonda, Nalgonda, Nizmabad and got the required material for the story and in consultation with Boorgula Ramakrishna Rao came up with a final storyline.

Nizam government even approved the film budget too. However the project did not take off as Union Government of India took direct action against Nizam rule when Nagaiah went to Madras and started working on the script with Samudrala Raghava. Later Nagaiah on his own produced Ramadasu in 1964 but faced financial difficulties.
