Sankranthi is best season for Tollywood. But, this year, only Venkatesh and Varun Tej starrer F2: Fun & Frustration turned out as blockbuster, wherein other releases like Balakrishna’s NTR Kathanayakudu and Ram Charan’s Vinaya Vidheya Rama ended as disasters.
After the Sankranthi season, Tollywood witnessed many flops in January, February and March months. Akhil’s Mr Majnu, Balakrishna’s NTR Mahanayakudu, Mithai, Where Is The Venkatalakshmi, Suryakantham etc. tasted bitter results at box office. Kalyam Ram’s 118 and YSR Biopic Yatra became average grossers, whereas Lakshmi’s NTR did decent business in Telangana.
However, April is turning out to be a luckiest month in this year for Tollywood. Notable films like Majili, Chitralahari, Jersey and Kanchana 3 are providing profits to investors. Naga Chaitanya starrer Majili is a huge blockbuster for its investment, whereas Sai Dharam Tej’s Chitralahari recovered investment in maximum centers already. Jersey is not up to the mark. But, the Nani starrer Jersey is likely to end as an above average grosser.
Dubbed film Kanchana 3 starring Raghava Lawrence is the biggest hits among other releases in April. Although the film got mixed to negative reviews, it did wonders at box office.
