Fortunately, few of Telugu films have performed well in our neighborhood state Tamil Nadu this year. Actually, few star hero films had big release in capital city Chennai. Super Star Mahesh Babu’s Spyder turned out as a flop in Telugu as well as Tamil, but he got recognition in TN with the AR Murugadoss directed film.
Mahesh Babu’s last movie Bharat Ane Nenu directed by Koratala Siva is one of the biggest earners of Tollywood this year. The film with a lifetime collection of Rs 1.72 Cr in Chennai had become highest grossing Telugu film in Chennai in 2018, whereas biggest hit of Tollywood Rangasthalam with 1.25 Cr gross takes third spot. Interestingly, Vijay Devarakonda’s Geetha Govindam seized second spot with Rs Cr gross. Here is the list of top 5 Chennai city grossers of 2018 (only Telugu films):
