Pranay's brutal murder was intenselyc castigated by everyone and it's the need of the hour at the moment. One of the big shots from Miryalaguda, Maruthi Rao, who couldn't digest his doted daughter Amruthavarshini, loving a Dalit and marrying him, took an extreme and barbaric decision of letting Pranay murdered by the goons who were given supari by him.
Print and web media too reacted on the honour killing and fumed at Maruthi Rao. But them, as usually, some top rated Telugu news channels reacted on the issue overboard and telecast the same news round the clock for four days. They didn't cover any other news bulletin properly in the aforementioned days.
Much to everyone's shocker, another honour crime occurred in Hyderabad wherein a person hacked his daughter and her husband with a sickle. Both of them were severely injured and were hospitalised. Pathetically, yet another honour crime was resulted in suicidal attempt of a man named Srikanth who earlier married an upper caste girl. It's learnt that Srikanth died of severe burns.
"The first honour killing was purely an intentional and it was a strategic ploy of Maruthi Rao against his son-in-law. However, some channels should be blamed for subsequent honour crimes. Repeated telecasting of the same crime on small screens might have motivated and prompted a few other fathers to indulge in taking cruel decisions against their daughters", opines a netizen.
Most of the netizens from social media too expressed similar opinion. Having understood the negativity from social media on it, a top news channel, broadcast a mud slinging discussion programme on social media and netizens, the other day.
"The channels should also telecast awareness programs against love affairs at school level. Besides, the channels should stop taking biased stand on political parties based on caste factors. Above all, school teachers should also take prime responsibility ensuring the students are concentrated on only their studies other than anything else", opineed some observers.
