VD Konda Star Status Test Starts Now

Vijay Deverakonda to Face Star Status Tests

Post the tremendous success of Geetha Govindam, youth crazy hero Vijay Devarakonda has been hailed as the new star of Tollywood. Megastar Chiranjeevi, himself, proclaimed that a new star was emerged in Tollywood. Yet, Vijay needs to prove his status as a star, especially to his critics.

As a matter of fact, a hero can't be said a star unless he fulfils certain tasks prescribed by cine analysts. One of the best ways to assess the stardom of a hero is the kind of pre release business done to his movie.

Right now the heroes who have the potentiality of more than Rs.40 crores theatrical pre release business can be called the stars while the heroes who ensure their films do the pre release business of Rs.70+ crores are superstars.

According to another notion, a hero can be called a star when his movies are sold out between 60% and 100% to that of the full run share of his previous highest grossing movie.

For an instance, all superstars of Tollywood, achieve the above norms set by critics. Natural Star Nani's latest venture Krishnarjuna Yuddham was sold out to Rs.35 crores and which is more than the full run share of his highest grossing film Nenu Local. As such, Nani can be called a star among medium range heroes.

Vijay Deverakonda's Geetha Govindam will collect Rs.65 crores in its full run. As such, his subsequent ventures should do Rs.40 crores pre biz in least case.

However, Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming film NOTA's pre release business has been valued around Rs.25 crores by trade analysts. Since NOTA has some limitations with its genre, it's pre release business mayn't be considered to assess Vijay's status as a star. His star status can be estimated with his other films like Taxiwala. Let's hope Vijay achieves the target in style.
