Penchal Das and Shiva Nagulu are two talented folk singers from Rayalaseema and Telangana regions respectively. Actually, it was director Merlapaka Gandhi’s father who recommended Penchal Das’s name to sing a song in Krishnarjuna Yuddham and we know how big hit ‘Dhaari Choodu’ track became.
In Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam there’s a folk song called ‘Aa Gattununtava’ sung by very popular Telangana singer Shiva Nagulu. Music lovers were enthused to listen to the song when it was released online. However, it was a big surprise for them, when they listened to the same song in music director Devi Sri Prasad’s voice.
Later, director Sukumar clarified that, Nagulu’s voice didn’t sync with Ram Charan, so they included DSP’s version. But, Nagulu was disappointed for removing his version in the film, though he was paid full remuneration. In fact, Nagulu thought, the song would provide him recognition and help him to get singing offers. But, all his dreams were shattered!
On the flip side, ‘Dhaari Choodu’ song in Krishnarjuna Yuddham crooned by Penchal Das was a chartbuster and the singer is presently working for NTR-Trivikram Srinivas’s film Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava. The talented singer is said to be flooded with offers, post Dhaari Choodu’ became a sensation.
If Nagulu too would have encouraged in same manner, he too would have become busy like Penchal Das, opine observers!
