It was 9 December, 2016. Mega Power Star Ram Charan's Dhruva hit the screens and carried positive reports from audience and rave reviews from critics. His stylised acting prowess received a shower of accolades from all corners.
Unfortunately, PM Modi's historical blunder demonetization had its intense impact on film industry of India then. Though people wanted to watch movies, hardly had they enough money in their money purses. Beelines of queues for just Rs.2000 or for Rs.4000 in front of ATMs were seen everywhere. And hundreds of old age people died standing in queues for money.
It was really a miracle Dhruva collecting Rs.58+ crores closing share barring demonetization. Incidentally, none of the films released in the same period coulldn't even collect Rs.20 crores share then. Ram Charan's crowd pulling capacity was elevated then. Trade estimated the movie could easily have minted Rs.90 crores share had there not been demonetization effect in India.
And today, Ram Charan is showing his box office power with Rangasthalam. Since there is no demonetization and any other obstacles, it appears sky is the limit for Rangasthalam collections. All in all, Dhruva became a moral blockbuster then, and Rangasthalam has become a real blockbuster now.
