A 3-day beach festival at Kakinada beach was kick started today. Legendary singer SP Bala Subrahmanyam and musician AR Rahman will be giving concerts in this event. However, it was alleged that Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) allocated Rs.3.5 crores public money for AR Rahman's music show.
"The KMC spent Rs.5 crores on the beach festival and AR Rahman alone will be paid Rs.3.5 crores among them. The state government shouldn't have forced municipal authorities to spent a bomb on the music director's show.
Meanwhile, the dates locked for beach festival were also lambasted by the critics. Earlier, beach festivals were celebrated during Sankranthi season. Now that examinations season is going on at the moment, there has been a lukewarm response to the event on the day of inauguration.
