Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming historical entertainer Padmavathi is generating huge controversy. The film starring Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone is based on the epic poem Padmavat by Malik Muhammad Jyasi.
Ranveer Singh is seen as Sultan Alauddin Khilji while Deepika is playing the role of Rani Padmavati. History says that Rani Padmavati committed Jauhar (Self immolation) when Khilji stormed Mevar to capture her.
With the rumours spreading on Sanjay Leela Bhansali included intimate romantic scenes between Deepika and Ranveer Singh playing Padmavati and Khilji, controvery erupted with organisations like Shri Rajput Karni Sena attacking the film physically and verbally.
Now Mahipal Singh Makarana, president of the outfit's Rajasthan Unit warned that he wouldn't hesitate to chop off Deepika Padukone's nose like Shurpanakha. They turned furious when Deepika attacked those opposing the film branding the entire controversy as appalling and regressing. He even accused that the fim Padmavathi was financed by the underworld.
It has to be seen whether all these controversial decks will be cleared for Padmavati to release on Dec 1.
