S Janaki is renowned as one of the legendary playback singers of Indian cinema. She has recorded 48,000 songs from 17 languages across the globe which include Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam Hindi and even Japanese, German and Latin.
S Janaki has now made an announcement of her retirement which pained every music lover. Being called as Nightingale of South, S Janaki gave her first concert in the city of Mysore 65 years ago.
She has now decided to give her last concert in Mysore itself on 28th of this month and the venue should be Manasa Gangotri Stadium. She might have announced her retirement due to her age factor. She is 80 years old now.
S Janaki received many honours and awards from state and central governments. She was conferred Padma Bhushan award by the Indian government in 2013. However, she rejected the award as she felt it was done too late by the government.
