AR Muruagdoss is a familiar label in Indian cinema. Not only in South, in fact the talented director who mixes social issues so cleverly into the script made inroads into deep North after Ghajini with Aamir Khan.
Presently, Muruga is handling Mahesh Babu on SPYDER which is playing hide-n-seek on its release date. If reports are to be believed, the project moved into final production part and a song will be shot lavishly on Mahesh Babu, 80 dancers in next one week to 10 days.
SPYDER underwent many script and production corrections in last few months. With too many fingers operated in script, Muruga almost lost his control. At the same time, SPYDER also had many investors from NV Prasad, Tagore Madhu to Muruga, Mahesh Babu themselves being production share holders played their part in creative aspects. Resultantly, SPYDER felt midway between a commercial and experimental flick. This also led to confusion on locking a release date, said the insiders.
Few years into the flashback, Murugadoss was pushed into a similar pressure cooker situation while directing Chiranjeevi on Stalin. Though the theme of film was super strong, overemphasis on exploiting Mega Star’s commercial image does the damage and Muruga never came back to Tollywood from then on.
Apparently, his re-entry with SPYDER is almost facing a similar trouble as forcible commerciality is blended into script and some additional Mahesh Babu’s hero elevation scenes are reportedly shot beyond the script demands which Muruga reluctantly agreed for.
All these inputs from market sources are creating apprehensions in trade circles on one more Stalin in making? Hope, this isn’t true.
