Though hero Karthi and director Mani Rathnam are cosseting Dil Raju for releasing their ‘Kaatru Veliyidai’ dubbed version ‘Cheliyaa’ in Telugu states but truth is the film hasn’t created any substantial positive buzz unlike recent Mani Ratnam’s hit ‘Ok Bangaram’ released through the same Dil Raju banner and distribution house.
Apparently Karthi is the sole face and Mani, AR Rahman’s brands should rescue the film for opening week because the magical touch of ‘Ok Bangaram’ or any of the past classic Mani Ratnam love stories isn’t felt in ‘Cheliyaa’ promotional material.
At the same time, demise of Dil Raju’s wife Anitha showed an adverse impact on film publicity. Even now, ‘Cheliyaa’ advertisement campaigns aren’t hogging limelight and a matter of fact is majority audience in lower order centers are either uninformed on release or uninterested due to lack of excitement.
Dil Raju is though involving into last minute release formalities just for namesake but it’s his team managing the show on his behalf. Missing in his golden handed touch, ‘Cheliyaa’ is struggling to generate the enthusiasm. Hope, ‘Cheliyaa’ picks up post release.
