There was a time when people used to feel comfortable having 500 and 1000 currency notes in their valets instead of 100s and 50s which are cumbersome. Apart from individuals, tradesmen dealing with more than five or six businesses at a time used to pressurize the bankers for disbursing high denomination notes during cash withdrawals.
One such star producer into various film businesses (including theater networking) appears to have got Daridra Devatha dancing on his head. A buzz from his office said, there were stacks of low denomination Rs. 100 currency notes lying in dust till November 8th. Few hours before Modi’s announcement, our star producer reportedly sent these Rs.100 currency bundles valuing up to Rs.15 Lakhs to the bank and got them converted into 1000s.
Panicked with Modi’s statement of 500 and 1000 notes rolled back, he called back the manager to re-convert the same and return his old 100 notes. However, it was too late by then and manager was helpless. As the producer in subject is known to be a miser, obviously his employees are double delighted. Employees at the producer’s office laughed off recalling this incident in the name of ‘Daridram Daddarillindi.’
