India's biggest motion picture Baahubali's storm at the ticket windows stood as a proud moment for Tollywood last year. Yet, the film was declined for the Oscar nominations last year, which stood as a huge shocker for the makers.
If the reports are anything to go by, the film has received yet another blow for not being selected for screening at International Film Festival of India, 2016 to be held in Goa from 20th November onwards.
Reportedly, the jury members received 230 entries from various languages for the screening which also include six Telugu films. Having done screening, the jury has finally selected 22 films which, shockingly, hasn't got included even a single Telugu film.
'Baahubali' though turned as a runaway hit, it received criticisms for its poor content by the critics. This could be the reason why the movie is failing to be selected in prestigious events. Although the film won the best national feature film award last year, national awards have also recently lost their glory due to various factors. which includes unfair selections of films for awards.
Some of the Tollywood folks expressed their concern over no film being selected for IFFI's screening. Howver, CV Reddy, the jury member said that our filmmakers are interested in commercial cinema rather making good films. He opined the governments of Telugu states should encourage a good cinema providing financial assistance to the filmmakers.
Meanwhile, 'Baahubali' has been selected for an unofficial screening at IFFI, Goa.
